Title Principles of Narrativity in The Eclipse (1907) by Georg Méliès Summary In this interdisciplinary study we report a narratological and cinematographic analysis of the film The Eclipse (1907), produced by George Méliès. In order to identify the principles of narrativity in this film, we examine its shots, settings and cuts. Our results show that the linearity in the presentation of events is interrupted by the insertion of shots that act as ellipsis. Keywords Film, Shot, Ellipsis, Narrativity.
