Title TV Messages and models to teenagers: Base study to a systematic analysis of sexual content of TV serials Summary Despite the self-regulatory initiatives presented by broadcasters in the last decades, television sexual context and its potential effects on adolescents' beliefs, attitudes, and values continues to be an issue in Spain. The present study is proposed as a basic methodology to develop follow- up studies in the said area. This is the first research effort aimed at systematic analysis of sexual content on entertainment television in Spain, including both public and commercial networks. The purpose of the study is to analyze the nature and amount of sexual content to which adolescents in Spain are exposed when they watch their favorite television series. Keywords Sexual material, television, material research, teenager, mass media effects, self-regulation, statute, book.
