Title Emerging Trends in Online Advertising Summary In the 1990’s, consumers associated online advertising with banner, pop-up, and e-mail advertisements. Today, online advertising is emerging as a compelling marketing component with rapid growth in the United States, Western Europe, and parts of Asia. We examine the importance of search marketing, rich media, contextual advertising, behavioral targeting, social marketing, and video advertising. We also discuss trends and new formats in online advertising, including online games, in-line text, social media, blogs, and mobile formats.
