Title Origin and evolution of political propaganda in Democratic Spain (1975-2000): Analysis of techniques and messages in general elections, 2000 Summary This survey will focus on the analysis of the techniques and the messages used in the political propaganda broadcast on TV by the main Spanish political parties – the Popular Party (PP) and the Spanish Labour Socialist Party (PSOE) in the 2000 general election. Thus, after having stated which is the electoral system currently in force in Spain, the few references that exist in Spain will be roughly outlined, to go on with the explanation of the current regulation on political propaganda during the electoral period, and to end up with the analysis on the content and the coding of the spots shown by the PP and the PSOE in the said elections, according to the model proposed by Professor Lynda Kaid.
